Our U15 and U17 Athletics team took to the track and field earlier this month for District Sport at Kingsmeadow stadium, Kingston. The event saw 20 schools coming together to compete in what is the pinnacle event in the school’s athletics calendar. Each and every girl absolutely excelled themselves in what was a show stopping competition for Manor House School. Our U15 girls medalled twice in Discuss, in 100m and in hurdles. As well as scoring points in Long jump, Shot putt, 200m, 300m, 1500m and relay. This combined effort saw them finish in 3rd place overall in the District.

Our U17 team took things to a whole new level with their performances. In all the combined years that we have attended various District Sports around the country as PE teachers, none of us have experienced anything quite like what our U17 team achieved this year.

The girls medalled (at least once) in 11 of the 13 events they competed in. Coming 1st in 100m, 80m hurdles, Long jump, High jump, Triple jump, shot putt and smashing the 1982 relay record in 4 x 100m relay taking gold. They also came 2nd in Triple jump and took 3rd place in 200m, 1500m and Discuss. These combined results put Manor House School in 1st place overall in the District with a total of 121 points. To put this into perspective, the school who came 2nd overall this year scored a total of 64 points. This margin shows just how well the girls performed.

A special mention goes to Sienna K, Elin R, Fleur P-J, Jessie S, Georgie A, Darcey M, Emma D and Bella C (Y9) who have all qualified for the Surrey Schools championships.

These girls are an absolute inspiration to our younger girls, and we are so proud of the hard work that all the girls have put into their athletics so far this year.
