The event is organised by Surrey Police together with other services such as the Fire Service and the RNLI. Junior Citizens aims to introduce children to more hazardous situations that they may come across as they get older and teach them how to keep safe in everyday life whilst becoming more independent. Year 6 girls were made aware of the hazards associated with standing too close to the edge of the platform for example or what to do if there is a fire in the home. A really worthwhile afternoon, crammed with so much to learn!

During their two hour visit, pupils experienced eight different safety scenarios and were given the opportunity to practice making a 999 telephone call. All the learning sessions at the event were designed to be interactive and Year 6 learnt how to do with a variety of life skills whilst potentially helping others who may be in difficulty or distress. Each pupil received a free work book to keep.
