GCSE Results day, falling on the third Thursday in August, is always a nerve-racking occasion for students, staff and parents alike. Thankfully, once again this year, trepidation quickly gave way to collective sighs of relief, followed by cheers of delight as the class of 2025 opened those all-important results envelopes!
Over half of all grades were 9-7s, the three highest grades achievable at GCSE, with 38% of these being 9s or 1 in 5 of the 422 results achieved overall. There were many remarkable individual successes, with one student gaining all 9s in all 11 subjects she sat with another succeeding in getting 10 of these top grades.
Particularly pleasing were the ‘value added’ results. This independently produced data compares the achievement of the girls at Manor House with their peers of a similar ability nationally in each of their different subjects. On average, Manor House girls gained an amazing 1.3 grades higher across all their subjects than girls in other schools countrywide. In subjects like German and Music this was almost 3 grades higher with the Manor House girls outperforming their peers in core subjects such as Maths, English Literature and Combined Science by 1.1, 1.0 and 1.4 grades respectively. This means regardless of their ability or starting points, Manor House School students do really well during their time here, each one being a valued and successful member of our smaller school community.
Emilia McB who got sat her GCSE's this year had this to say - 'I had a wonderful experience during my 7 years at Manor House. Since the beginning, I felt a unique sense of tight-knit community within the school, which was a huge benefit, as it made me feel heard and valued. I was provided with countless opportunities over the years which allowed me to thrive and be well prepared for my next steps. Without the endless support of the teachers, who are so passionate about what they do, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am forever grateful for the Manor House community and can’t wait to come back and visit once day!'
We wish every one the Class of 2025 every success in the future and look forward hearing about your new adventures at Prize Giving on Thursday 9 October 2025.
