Manor House School is situated on a beautiful, seventeen acre site in Surrey’s commuter belt. The 17th century Manor House sits amidst formal areas around a main front lawn with a natural wildlife area and an orchard. The School has been voted one of the UK’s most beautiful schools. In addition to well resourced classrooms, our facilities include a purpose-built large, light filled Art/Textiles studio with kiln, a dedicated Music room complete with a suite of iMacs with Logic, Garageband and Sibelius to improve music technology skills and a mirrored Drama room for LAMDA lessons.
We have two ICT suites to train girls on the latest PC and Apple technology, whilst our Language Laboratory means that all language groups can improve their confidence in spoken language. Pupils benefit from a fit-for-purpose Science block providing separate Chemistry, Physics and Biology laboratories whilst the Elizabeth Green Hall acts as a Sports/Theatre/Assembly Hall. In addition there is a second (Arcot) Hall in the Manor House itself. A spacious Food Technology facility with dedicated practical work stations allows girls to work independently in kitchen conditions.
The School has developing sports facilities which currently include an open-air heated swimming pool, five floodlit tennis and netball courts, hockey and rounders pitches, and an athletics track.
Meadow Cottage provides an additional facility for instrumental lessons whilst The Lodge plays host to a Well-Being Centre.
The Dell is Manor House School’s outside classroom, complete with pond and viewing area where the Forest School is held.
Our Nursery is located in a dedicated and purpose-built area of the School connected to an all-weather enclosed playground. The children share the Orchard Garden with the Prep girls.
The Library Resource Centre is an important part of Manor House School life and is open every day for girls to do research and for quiet study, as well as for the reading and enjoyment of books.
The Librarian is available to give help, advice and support to pupils in all areas of the curriculum. All pupils from Nursery to Year 11 can use and borrow books and regular library lessons are held up to Year 6 to help with literacy skills and to encourage reading.
The Library has a stock of over 16,000 fiction and non fiction books, DVDs, spoken word CDs and leaflets split into 3 main areas: Prep, Senior and Careers. PCs and Netbooks are available for girls to use for research and work.
Authors are invited into School on a regular basis and the Library takes part in World Book Day, Children’s Book Week and Guildford Book Festival.
We offer exclusive use of our beautiful Grade II listed Queen Anne building and landscaped grounds for weddings or special occasions. This is possible at the week-ends during term-time and during the School holidays. Email: tgamble@manorhouseschool.org for more information.
