Our Year 6 pupils recently returned from an exciting three-night residential trip to Little Canada on the Isle of Wight, where they took part in a wide range of outdoor adventures with PGL. The visit was a fantastic opportunity for the girls at our independent school for girls in Surrey, to develop independence, resilience and teamwork, while creating lasting memories with their friends.
During their stay, the girls embraced every challenge with enthusiasm. Kayaking on the Solent was a particular highlight, as they learned new skills and took part in fun games on the water. On land, they demonstrated great courage tackling the zip wire and trapeze, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones and supporting one another every step of the way.
The programme also included a variety of problem-solving activities, encouraging the girls to think creatively and work collaboratively. One of the most memorable experiences was the ‘Survivor’ challenge, where they built shelters in the woods and learned practical skills such as preparing wood and using flints to start a fire.
There were plenty of opportunities for friendly competition too, from climbing challenges against the clock to archery contests aiming for the highest score. Aeroball, a lively mix of basketball and volleyball on a trampoline, proved to be a firm favourite.
In the evenings, the girls enjoyed relaxing together, playing card games and unwinding after busy days, before settling in for a good night’s sleep.
Throughout the trip, the girls were excellent ambassadors for the school. Their positive attitude, teamwork and willingness to try new things made the residential a resounding success and a truly #UnforgettableExperiences for all involved.
