In March, girls in Year 7 competed in the 'Education Perfect 2021 Language Championships'.

The Championships, hosted by online learning provider Education Perfect, provide a wealth of online lessons and other valuable language learning activities. Pupils scored points by completing lessons and activities in their chosen language. The Year 7 pupils competed in French, German and Spanish, and many girls also had a go at other languages such as Maori and Japanese!

Girls completed challenges and activities during their language lessons and teachers were also impressed to see that many of the girls were continuing to log on and compete at home, boosting their scores as they did so.

With only 46 pupils competing, compared to hundreds in other schools, our Year 7s performed brilliantly and finished 5th overall in the UK (out of 41 schools) and 357th globally (out of almost 1,900 schools). The average points achieved per pupil was amongst the highest in both the UK and globally. More than half of Manor House pupils achieved a certification for their overall scores.

We are very proud of the girls’ efforts and we will be commending their achievements with certificates and other prizes in the Summer term.

Many thanks go to Mrs Miller for taking the lead in organising our participation in this event, and we look forward to competing in next year’s Championships, hopefully with more year groups involved.
