In this most difficult of years for so many schools and their pupils, Manor House School, Bookham were pleased to have the opportunity to continue entering the local Rotary Young Photographer competition organized by the Rotary Clubs of Leatherhead, and Bookham and Horsley.

The competition is judged on a portfolio of three photographs accompanied by a brief sentence describing the relationship of each photograph to the theme – this year “Wild Nature”. Judging criteria include technical merit; content and composition; imagination and style.

The successful annual competition has local, district and national stages and is open to pupils aged 7-17 years old.

In the Intermediate age group, Senior pupil and Art Scholar, Flora D, was awarded winning entry! Huge congratulations to Flora for her artistic flair and photograph of a stag and deer, shown with this story. The Judges observed that Flora had chosen her location well and taken her opportunity to create an interesting portfolio of wild nature that is much closer to us all than it appears. The thinking behind Flora's photographs was equally very well expressed and judges particularly liked the comparison of the tree roots to antlers."

Fellow senior girl, Ruby H, was Runner-Up and our congratulations also to Asha M, whose entries the judge awarded Highly Commended.

Prep School student, Amy F, achieved Runner-Up in the Junior (Prep) age group and Florence L-J and Lexie H were also rated as Highly Commended.

Flora’s portfolio has been forwarded for entry in the next stage of the competition.

Certificates and prizes for Amy, Flora, and Ruby will be delivered to school in the coming weeks. So very well done to all!
