Manor House School Sport Scholar representing Surrey Schools in Cross Country.

Posted: 11th March 2024

Izzy W, a Year 7 Senior Sport Scholar at Manor House School, Bookham has been selected to represent Surrey Schools. In February, Izzy joined the Surrey Schools Cross-Country elite squad for their training day at ACS International in Egham, Surrey.

It was an intense day! They covered areas such as drills & endurance work, stretching & foam rollers, plyometrics & resistance bands and running drills to improve their stamina and skills.

There was also an important session on building confidence and developing race day plans, which Izzy found particularly useful, especially given she has a couple of big races coming up. Izzy will be representing Sussex at the National Inter Counties Cross Country Championships at Loughborough in March. She’ll also be representing Surrey Schools at the Schools Inter Counties at Tonbridge in late March.

To close the training day, Guest Speaker Hayley Tullett, talked about her journey from school athlete to competing at the World, Olympic and Commonwealth Games. Izzy managed to get a signature and photo with Hayley and came away inspired and motivated.
