This page is updated on a weekly basis with sports news and requests for the School’s Weekly Newsletter. This week:
Well done to the girls and parents who took part in the Manor House Triathlon last Sunday. The conditions were perfect for triathlon and over 100 participants turned up to compete. Our girls demonstrated great resilience and speedy transitions which reaped rewards. Emily F and Amy F both won their age group Duathlon. Annika R came third in the Aquathon and Izzy W came second in her Aquathlon age group.
In the triathlon section, Alice M ran a strong race winning the 11-12 year old category with Darcey M, a new pupil to the school coming in third. Ruby H entered for the first time and following a super speedy bike leg, came fourth. Aggie R came fifth despite a mechanical issue and Jessie S was held up when her chain came off but showed determination to finish in fine form!
Ellie G, who is also new to the sport won the 9-10 yrs category, showing strength across all disciplines. I was very proud of all athletes and it is lovely to see the sport flourishing. We were also able to cheer on some parents and Mrs Rosenberg flew around the Aquathlon course winning her category. Mr Moodie came second and Mr Rosenberg came second on the open road course. Congratulations to all!
Next Friday we are taking a team to the Guildford High School Aquathon and next Sunday, Alice M and Darcy M will be competing in one of the final races of the season at Hever Castle.
Triathlon club will not run next Friday morning due to the MacMillan Breakfast. I hope to see you all there.
Following on from last week’s Clubs Fair, I have attached some information about some of the external clubs that were advertised. If you are interested in signing your daughter up to any of these clubs please get in contact with the relevant people.
A reminder to our Taekwondo Poomsae squad that training has started again and will be running on Monday long break. If you are interested in joining the squad please see Mrs Tauber or Mr Hayward.
A huge congratulations to Aggie R who has been awarded with Dorking Swimming Club’s Head Coaches Award for her age group. This is the top award for the year at the club and was awarded not only for her performance and progress in the water but also her attitude to training and her team spirit and encouragement of those around her at meets and galas. Well done Aggie!
Girls Go Gold
On Wednesday 12 September, our Year 11 GCSE PE students attended a GSA sports conference at University of Bath. This was an excellent opportunity for the girls to have a look around the university and see the fantastic sports facilities they have to offer. They also had the chance to attend three workshops including a sports psychology lecture, a netball training session run by a Team Bath player and have a go at the finale to the Olympic sport of modern pentathlon, Laser run.
The girls also listened to inspirational talks by ex-England netballer Pamela Cookey and the first female to cross the Antartica, Major Nics Wetherill.
