One of our seven school values is ‘Happy and Healthy’. At Manor House School, Bookham we aim to ensure that all pupils have access to seasonal, freshly produced and healthy foods, which are plentiful and readily available.
School lunch is provided by our award-winning in-house catering team who create a balanced, varied and exciting menu for each day of the week. This is themed in line with seasonal events and we hold regular tastings and food events staged by the regional Head Chef.
Manor House Weekly, our parent newsletter that is released every Friday during term-time, includes the lunch menu for the following week. Girls in the Senior School are also given access to the menu on their iPads.
We have a pupil-led Food Committee, which meets regularly with our catering team so that students have a forum for channelling their own ideas and suggestions. This means that we always provide a variety of foods that are current and popular with pupils. This includes the introduction of pre-bookable salad boxes on certain days of the week and other intiatives.
We use local suppliers and source local produce wherever possible. In turn, this helps us to reduce our carbon footprint. A huge thank you to our suppliers who annually donate produce for our Macmillan Cancer Big Breakfast Fund-raiser.
