The girls were excited finding the answers to quiz questions in St George’s Chapel and learning about where the Queen sits when she is there. They were surprised that the West Window had 75 people depicted in the stained glass and that Henry VIII is buried there in the Quire.

After lunch, we enjoyed an interactive workshop to find out ‘whose royal home is this?’ It was fun having the chance to dress up and role-play being a member of Queen Victoria’s staff. We discovered that Queen Victoria was very strict and very particular.

After the workshop we walked through the beautiful State Apartments, admiring the enormous paintings and elaborate furniture. A highlight was looking at Queen Mary’s Dolls House. It was interesting to see how much we could learn about how people lived in the past from this. We walked over 10,000 steps during the day, exploring the castle grounds, but unfortunately we didn’t bump into Queen Elizabeth II. She was not in residence when we visited, which meant we only saw the Union Jack flying from the flagpole and not the Royal Standard. However, we did see her royal guards marching along with their bearskin hats on and we saw where the Queen has her private apartments.

A lovely, memorable day was had by all. #HappyandHealthy #ALoveofLearning
