Supporting Macmillan Cancer

Charity and Local Community

Charitable Work

It is important to us here at Manor House School that we engage with our local community. We have a wonderful location and superb facilities and we try to share these with other groups where it is possible to do so. The local WI, Bookham Belles, meets here regularly on a Monday evening and we have more recently welcomed Bookham Choral Society.

Manor House School girls support a variety of charities. There are three School Houses; Discovery, Victory and Endeavour. Each Manor House girl will be assigned a House on joining the School and will support nominated charities throughout the academic year.

Each September we host a fund-raising breakfast for Surrey Macmillan Cancer Care, which is open to girls, their friends  and families, parents and staff.  This is always an enjoyable and well-supported occasion and we have raised over £11,000 in recent years for Surrey Macmillan –  £1677 raised in September 2017.   In addition, Manor House School is one of the few schools that continues to support the Queen Mother’s Clothing Guild and we make up a large number of shoebox presents as part of Operation Christmas Child.

The charities that we support include:

  • The Grange Residential Care Home
  • LeatherHEAD START
  • The Canterbury Trust
  • The Children’s Trust
  • All Saints Church
  • The Meeting Place
  • Make a Wish
  • Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
  • The Poppy Appeal
  • Jigsaw.
