Lower Prep Curriculum

The curriculum in the Lower Prep School at Manor House School is based on the National Curriculum (Key Stage 1 and 2) but is enriched to provide a broad and stimulating learning base so that each girl can fulfil her potential, whilst giving her plenty of time to develop at her own pace, with teaching tailored to the needs of each individual.

The girls learn in an environment that is fun, interactive and creative. We encourage a strong sense of independence, creativity and an investigative approach to learning. Pupils benefit from specialist tuition and varied extra-curricular activities both during the day and after school.   Girls benefit from activities including our Forest School, swimming, French, cooking, Physical Education, Music (learning the violin, piano and recorder by the end of Year 2), and the Performing Arts (ballet, dance and drama).

The Nursery curriculum focuses firmly on personal development via learning through work and play. Children are encouraged to expand their horizons and develop skills across the seven areas of learning and development in the Early Years Foundation Stage; personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, expressive arts and design, physical development and understanding the world.

We ensure that girls enter Reception Class from our Nursery full of enthusiasm and confidence and ready to continue their journey through Manor House School.
