Year 11 have made the English Department very proud indeed this week with their fantastic speeches as part of their English Language GCSE.
In the new GCSE, Speaking and Listening is now an Endorsement rather than a percentage of their final grade, yet all of the girls still rose to the challenge of public speaking and worked incredibly hard in preparing some very persuasive and engaging speeches.
Speeches ranged from entertaining topics such as ‘Is Chocolate the Food of the Gods?’ and ‘The importance of Music in our Lives’ through to political speeches on ‘Education in Britain’ and the ‘Size Zero Debate’. The girls also had to answer a challenging question on the spot as part of their assessment to which, despite nerves, they all responded with confidence and maturity.
Well done girls: you are working so hard in English and we are very proud of you!
