March Sports News

It is nearing the end of the hockey and netball season and we are eagerly awaiting the start of tennis, rounders, athletics and swimming.

However we have still had an action packed half term with the usual hockey and netball matches and the District hockey and netball tournaments. The highlight was the U13A team winning the District netball.

We have had girls taking part in coaching and ‘Come and Play’ sessions in netball, hockey and lacrosse and it is lovely seeing so many girls out enjoying sport.

The Year 11’s did us proud in their GCSE PE moderation the night after the netball team had an exciting 15-14 win against Hurtwood House sixth form. They have been a lovely and enthusiastic group of girls to coach over the years and we will really miss them, but as some are club members we are sure they will continue to enjoy playing netball.

The junior and senior gymnasts put on a marvellous display in assembly. The seniors impressed with somersaults and flicks on the trampets and the juniors performed some lovely individual, paired and triple floor routines. They have taken part in competitions at St. Catherine’s and Rydes Hill.

The juniors took part in the Surrey Relays Swimming Championships and Hollie Cooper gained ninth place in the Surrey B Championships.

We hosted a cross country match at the end of February with four local schools and a total of 136 runners took part.

We also organised an U10 & U11 netball tournament with some local schools which was a great success. There was a lovely atmosphere and some exciting games played. The U11’s won all their games so were champions and the U10’s also won medals.

As the term draws to a close we thank all of the girls who have taken part in sport this term and look forward to warm sunny days ahead.
