On Friday 7 October Year 3 went on their very first History outing to Fishbourne Roman Palace.

After listening to an informative video on how mosaics were discovered, pupils visited a workshop where they were able to do various activities.  Girls were able to apply their knowledge of the Romans and Celts to find out who they were and what they did.  There was lots of excitement as Lilly was dressed as a Celtic princess and Isha was dressed in a royal Roman toga dress.

Pupils later viewed the remains of the north wing of the Palace. Over twenty mosaics and fragments of mosaics can be seen there.

After spending time looking in awe and sketching the beautiful Roman mosaic floor patterns in addition to the intricate and detailed heating system, there was time for a group photograph and a chance to consider the various herbs and plants used by both the Celts and the Romans.
