The annual Rock & Pop Evening at Manor House School is one of the most anticipated events in the school calendar for pupils, teachers and parents and this year’s evening held on Friday 17th June was no exception. Compered by English Teacher, Georgie Roberts, the evening featured a variety of solo performances, the Junior and Senior Guitar Ensemble, both Junior and Senior Vocal Ensembles, the Parent and Staff Choir, the Senior Choir and performances from Years 8 to 10 and Staff Bands.

Staff, Parents, Junior and Senior Choir opened the concert with a song that topped the singles charts for 7 weeks back in 2015, namely Uptown Funk.   This set the mood for a fantastic and memorable evening.

Following our KS3 players’ involvement in Reed’s School for Boys Orchestral Recital last month, three of their instrumentalists joined our Rock & Pop Evening – two as Year 9 and 10 Trombone players and a further as Year 10 Bass Guitarist.  We were incredibly grateful to have them performing with us.

Our Staff and Parent Choir performed a song from Sky Atlantic’s Musical Theatre Drama ‘Smash’, a show that revolves around a fictional NYC theatre community and the creation of a new Broadway musical. The show has received a number of different awards and our Staff and Parent Choir duly did it justice.

The concert finished with a touching medley in tribute to a late great artist’s work, David Bowie.
