Girls and staff at Manor House School are celebrating after their contract caterer was declared best in Britain at a glittering London awards ceremony.

Holroyd Howe was named Education Caterer of the Year in the industry’s ‘Oscars’ – the Foodservice Cateys – at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel.

Caterers at Holroyd Howe were commended for their innovative menus and their commitment to local sourcing of ingredients and to high quality staff training.

The award is a delight – but no surprise – to the girls of Manor House who enjoy delicious food every day at the selective independent school at Little Bookham near Leatherhead, Surrey.

Headmistress Miss Zara Axton said: “Congratulations to everyone at Holroyd Howe for this well deserved national award.”

She added: “At Manor House School we are renowned for our high levels of pupil care and excellent nutritious food is a very important part of that.

“Our daily lunch menus include a choice of two hot options, one meat and one vegetarian, locally sourced produce wherever possible, fresh vegetables, soups, baguettes, hot desserts, a yoghurt bar and fresh fruit.”

Catering staff are careful to take note of any special dietary requirements among the girls – a process made easier by the school’s smaller setting.

Holroyd Howe Managing Director Ronan Harte said: “It is a real honour to pick up this award. We are very proud of how hard our teams have worked over the course of the last year and this award is testament to that.

“As a business, our focus has always been to deliver creative, delicious food that engages and inspires pupils, whilst also safeguarding their health and wellbeing. We are delighted that this award recognises that.”

This latest award comes just days after one of Holroyd Howe’s head chefs Matt Potts won the Independent Caterer of the Year Award at the EDUcatering Excellence Awards at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London. Last year Holroyd Howe also won a European Safety Bureau award.

Manor House School will be holding open mornings on February 9 2016, April 26 2016 and October 1 2016. Families are welcome.
