On Friday 6th November, we held our Bonfire Night themed Reception Class Taster Morning, welcoming girls from Manor House Nursery and other local nursery settings.

The morning started with some rather messy (but equally fun) bonfire themed hand painting. The girls then created a ‘Fireworks in the Sky’ piece.DSC_0128

Mr. Edmeades, our specialist Drama teacher, worked with the girls to create a fun and inspiring ‘Firework Dance’. Mr Edmeades also choreographs Mr Tumble and ZingZillas for CBeebies.

Our Reception class teaching aims to lay firm foundations for the future learning of all our pupils by developing strong literacy, numeracy and independent learning skills at an early age. Every girl in our Reception class experiences learning in an exciting, challenging environment with regular specialist lessons in Music – including learning the Violin as an extra skill – French, Drama, Dance, PE, Swimming and Cooking.  Our smaller class sizes enable each girl to benefit from far greater personal attention than she would obtain in a bigger school environment.  We ensure that every girl has daily one-on-one learning time with her teacher or teaching assistant as part of our individual approach to academic success.

Our Reception girls also benefit from using all the facilities and grounds available to our older girls.  We are looking forward to launching our new Forest School soon, which will enhance our outdoor learning provision for all girls in the Pre-Prep.
