Once again, as part of our Christmas celebrations at Manor House School, we are encouraging students and their families to take part in Samaritan’s Purse ‘Operation Christmas Child’.
This project has been set up to send shoe boxes filled with gifts to children overseas who are homeless, live in orphanages or whose lives have been blighted by poverty, ill health or war.
Shoe boxes are covered in Christmas paper with the box and lid covered separately so that the box can still be opened. The boxes are filled with small unwrapped gifts for the children.
Many of the children live in very difficult circumstances and practical gifts as well as toys are very much appreciated.
Some examples are:
- A ball
- Soap and flannel
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Pencils and pens
- Rubber
- Pencil sharpener
- Notebook
- Wrapped sweets
- Hat, gloves and scarf.
You can cover your own shoe box, or this year we are providing pre-decorated shoe boxes for a donation of 50p for each box. The boxes and leaflets are available from the school office.
