We are delighted to welcome Mrs Liz Mayes, as our new Head of English at Manor House School.
Mrs Mayes has been a key contributor to the school for the past 4 years, introducing The Poetry Performance Evening for our Year 10 girls, as well as running the Debating Club and the Manor House School Mock General Election earlier this year.
She has been a huge advocate of our belief in delivering personalised learning, helping to guide Sophie, one of our AS English students, to complete her Creative Writing a year early and to an exceptional standard.
Mrs Mayes graduated from the University of Warwick with a BA(Hons) in English and American Literature, before spending a decade in Account Management and Production for a large Marketing and Digital Communications agency.
Mrs Mayes went on to complete her PGCE at Roehampton University and taught at Rosebery School until 2009.
“I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the English Department and look forward to introducing new initiatives to help increase the girls’ love of reading and raise their academic achievement. I love the ethos of Manor House School and have always been struck by its friendly and nurturing environment. I am looking forward to working closely with the girls and encouraging them to become strong and confident learners.”
Mrs Mayes will be joined in the English Department by Mrs Nicola Roberts from Claremont Fan Court School and Mrs Georgina Roberts, from The Howard of Effingham School.
