Biccyle Relief (13)Since last year’s Theme Week, we have continued to raise money for World Bicycle Relief.

Our Junior girls in Year 5 are taking part in a sponsored ‘static cycle’, with the aim to cycle continuously for an entire school day. The girls will take it in turns to cycle on an exercise bike for ten minute intervals.

The event will take place on the 25th of June on the school tennis courts to coincide with Junior Sports Day, where all parents are invited to support the girls and cheer them on.

The money will help to provide bicycles to students in Africa to enable them to get to school and achieve an education.

It only takes £95 to put a new bicycle into the hands of a school child in Kenya, Zambia or South Africa. Providing bicycles to students reduces their travelling time to school by up to 75% and enables them to remain in education longer. This gives them more opportunities to find employment in the future, and helps keep them out of poverty.

It would be wonderful if the girls were able to collect a small amount of sponsorship money for their efforts and we would greatly appreciate any contribution!

We have now raised enough for 50 bicycles in Africa to afford girls an education that otherwise wouldn’t.
