Head Girl and Deputy Head GirlWe are delighted to announce the successors to Olivia Snelson, Head Girl, and Amy Norman, Deputy Head Girl, who will both move on to their chosen sixth forms at the start of the next academic year.

Our congratulations to Helen Newhall, who has been appointed Head Girl, with Capucine Hollloway as Deputy Head Girl. We are hugely proud of Olivia and Amy who have done a fantastic job of acting as exemplary pupils this past year and whom girls in our younger years have looked up to.

The roles of Head Girl and Deputy Head Girl are a fantastic opportunity to undertake valuable leadership responsibilities, as well as including a comprehensive application process to prepare applicants for life after Manor House School.

The girls apply whilst in Year 10 to take on their responsibilities at the beginning of Year 11. The application process involves a huge amount of self-discovery, where they must understand their qualities and skills, as well as their contribution and commitment to the school and apply these to the role.

The votes are cast by both the pupils – which helps to empower the girls and allows them to understand that their vote really does count – and the staff.

When the successors are chosen on the Friday following the election, they become officials of the school. Before they have even succeeded their peers, the girls have proven their ability to motivate themselves and show a huge level of responsibility.

Junior girls look up to the Head Girl and Deputy as exemplary students – so excellent manners, conduct and appearance is expected at all times. Having already proved their excellent articulation when speaking publicly – the girls should have no trouble helping their peers, sensibly and calmly.

Duties include, amongst many others, giving the Vote of Thanks at our Prize Giving Evening, reading at our Founders Day Service and Carol Service, helping to run assemblies, host prefect meetings, attending the AGM of one of our charitable causes and heading the organisation of the School Yearbook.

We look forward to Helen and Capucine taking over their responsibilities at the beginning of the next academic year!
