Drama

At Manor House Drama is seen as a valuable tool in increasing self-confidence and communication skills in all girls, as well as enabling them to enjoy the sheer fun of being involved in school productions and drama evenings. Such events make memories and are frequently recalled fondly by former pupils.

Drama is strong throughout the school and there are major Junior and Senior productions each year. These include all girls that wish to take part – and the vast majority do. In the Juniors Year 6 take the lead roles, with Years 3 to 5 forming a lively and enthusiastic chorus. Past productions have included “Peter Pan”, “Mary Poppins” and “The Lion King”. In the Seniors this tradition is maintained. Girls perform, work backstage, work the sound or lighting and create scenery. Recent shows include “The Wizard of Oz”, “High School Musical” and “West Side Story”.

GCSE Drama is a popular and successful course. Girls in the GCSE course have performed in the annual and national Shakespeare Festival at the Leatherhead Theatre. In 2009 we have presented “A Winter’s Tale”.
