Transition
Our aim is to create a safe, secure and stimulating learning environment for the children in our care. An environment that provides the predictability that children need in order to develop confidence, yet at the same time one that excites their interest and stimulates their love of learning.
Activities are planned in a multi-sensory way to meet each child’s particular learning style. Our thematic approach helps our children make connections in their learning across the different curriculum areas. They are ensured the time and freedom to work creatively and engage with learning in ways that are active, self-determining and personally meaningful. Our carefully planned curriculum ensures a balance between adult led and child initiated learning activities.
Our small class size allows each child daily ‘one to one’ protected time with either our Transition teacher or her teaching assistant. This time is used to meet each child’s particular learning needs in a discreet and sensitive manner. Careful observation of each child’s progress enables us to devise strategies that support, consolidate and extend every child’s learning.
We want each child to develop belief in their own ability, be disposed to learn and be motivated to persist.
Parents are always welcome to view their daughter's profile by arrangement with Mrs Burden.
'All About Me' topic
One of the recent topics in Transtion was ‘All About Me’.
Great fun was had labelling a friend with ‘post it note’ body labels. Especially funny was labelling the nose!
Using magnifying glasses the girls in Transition enjoyed looking carefully at their feet and describing what they saw.
Finally, Transition found out that painting a friend’s foot really tickles. Once painted, each girls’ foot was printed onto paper and labelled.
