Food Technology & Child Development

The H/E room was custom-built 4 years ago. All girls at KS3 level are taught Food/ Nutrition and Textiles. The Prep dept also teach regular lessons. There is an emphasis on cooking skills which has led to the introduction of LICENCE TO COOK. This is a programme to enable students to learn to cook and understand the principles of diet and nutrition, health and safety and wise food shopping. Personalised certificates are awarded on successful completion of the course.

Both Child Development and Food/Nutrition are offered at GCSE. The practical element and high level of coursework make these popular choices. A baby-sitting club and cookery club support the subjects at KS3 and KS4.
