Public Benefit

It is important to us here at Manor House to engage with our local community.  We have a wonderful location and superb facilities and we try to share these with other groups where it is possible to do so.

Each week the local Brownie group meet here.  The group include girls who attend Manor House but also many who do not but they all enjoy learning new skills and exploring our grounds.

Encore Youth Orchestra meet here on a regular basis.  Again this group is made up of boys and girls from a variety of local schools who use our facilities to rehearse their music and then invite parents to their regular concerts.

Manor House girls are very keen to support a variety of charities.  Each September we support MacMillan Cancer Care by hosting a breakfast, open to girls, parents and staff.  This is a well-supported occasion, which has proven so enjoyable that parents have asked if we can do it more often.  Jeans for Genes is a charity close to our hearts as we have several pupils who have genetic conditions.  Manor House is one of the few schools who continue to support the Queen Mary Clothing Guild and we make up a large number of shoebox presents as part of Operation Christmas Child.  Last year we raised in the region of £10,000 for charities both local, national and international.

The Junior Department in particular has a link to a school in Lombok, Indonesia (pictured above) since it was visited by one of our staff when she was there on holiday.  We have sent supplies of books and writing materials, as well as uniforms for the children.  Without uniforms there is no government funding for the school so this has been a vital improvement for these children.
